RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-519
A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle Antwand and Lashawn Covington’s claims against the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in the amount of $12,000.00, and that said amount be paid out of the Self-Insured Liability Fund.
WHEREAS, on February 2, 2006, Antwand Covington sustained injuries after his vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by a Metropolitan police officer acting within the course and scope of his employment; and,
WHEREAS, on February 2, 2007, Mr. Covington, and his wife, Lashawn Covington, brought suit against the Metropolitan Government for injuries suffered as a result of the accident; and,
WHEREAS, after investigation, the Department of Law believes that the settlement listed in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government, and recommends that this lawsuit be compromised and settled.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the lawsuit Antwand and Lashawn Covington v. Metropolitan Government, currently pending in the Circuit Court of Davidson County, Docket No. 07C-369, for the sum of $12,000.00, and said amount be paid out of the Self-Insured Liability Fund.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
