RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-428
A resolution recognizing and congratulating the Jess Neely baseball team on winning the 2008 Dixie Youth State Championship.
WHEREAS, these young men from Jess Neely Athletics, Inc. in East Nashville performed with precision while playing their hearts out against strong competition during the year to advance and win the Dixie Majors State Tournament in Covington, Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, in winning the state tournament in Covington Tennessee against Benton County and beating them by a score of 14-5, Jess Neely advanced to the Dixie Majors World Series in Dyersburg, Tennessee on July 26th thru July 30th where they finished 9th in the Nation; and
WHEREAS, by their performance the players and coaches of the Jess Neely team has brought recognition to the East Nashville community for not only their athletic abilities, but for their exceptional team play, their dedication, and their sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, the 17, 18 and 19 year olds were led by coaches David Etheridge and Tommy Stewart and members of this talented team are Codi Etheridge, Terence Love, Trenton Love, Keemonte Keesee, Brandan Moss, A. J. Ladd, C. J. Scott, Brien Kelley, James Stewart, Jamal Stewart, Mike Edwards, Terrell Perkins, Nick Garrett, and Jared Hill; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and congratulates the 2008 Jess Neely baseball team and their coaches for their remarkable season that led to their capture of the state championship and advancement to the Dixie World Series.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating the Jess Neely baseball team on winning the 2008 Dixie Youth State Championship.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to League President Greg Combs and Coach David Etheridge on behalf of the team.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
