RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-390

A resolution approving an amendment to a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, to provide services to assist low income and/or homeless individuals achieve self-sufficiency.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, previously entered into a Grant Agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide services designed to assist low income and/or homeless individuals achieve self-sufficiency; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend that Grant Agreement to increase the amount of the grant by $11,473.00 for a new grant total of $5,716,283.08, a copy of which Amendment 4 is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Amendment 4 to the grant by and between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, to provide services to assist low income and/or homeless individuals achieve self-sufficiency, a copy of which Amendment 4 is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Madam President:

I move to amend RS2008-390 by deleting the phrase "U.S. Department of Health and Human Services", wherein it appears in the caption, in the first recital clause, and in Section 1 of the Resolution, and substituting in lieu thereof the phrase "Tennessee Department of Human Services".
