RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-374

A resolution approving an application for a gang prevention assistance grant from the United States Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to pay overtime for officers assigned to the gang prevention unit.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice is accepting applications for gang prevention assistance grants, with an award of $197,170.00 with no cash match required; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government’s application for a gang prevention assistance grant, with an award of $197,170.00 to pay overtime for officers assigned to the gang prevention unit, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Police Department is authorized to submit said application to the United Stated Department of Justice.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
