RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-357

A resolution recognizing Empirical Laboratories, LLC, as the 2008 Tennessee and U.S. Region IV Small Business Subcontractor of the Year.

WHEREAS, Empirical Laboratories, LLC, was founded in 1968 by Carl Adams at 2907 12th Avenue South with the intention of providing analytical laboratory services to the environmental marketplace; and

WHEREAS, Empirical Laboratories, LLC is a stellar organization whose owners and employees have graciously weathered the ups and downs of an ever-changing market while staying true to is core philosophy to be an ethical leader in the environmental laboratory service industry while striving to provide optimum customer satisfaction and superior data quality; and

WHEREAS, in 2008 Empirical Laboratories, LLC is celebrating its fortieth year in business, but only its fourth as a Small Disadvantaged, Small Woman-owned and HUBZone Small Business, as well as the only analytical laboratory in the U.S. that holds all of three of these Small Business designations; and

WHEREAS, the future of Empirical Laboratories, LLC, remains bright as the company’s owners and employees prepare for many more years as an innovative and successful business; and

WHEREAS, the management and employees of Empirical Laboratories, LLC, continue to play an integral role in the economic life of the greater Nashville community and are richly deserving of the Body’s recognition; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes President and CEO Sheila F. McLendon, Vice President and Laboratory Director D. Rick Davis, and Robert E. “Bob” Boyd Director, Business Development and the employees of Empirical Laboratories, LLC on being named the state of Tennessee 2008 Small Business Subcontractor of the Year as well as the 2008 Region IV Small Business Subcontractor of the Year.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Empirical Laboratories, LLC, as the 2008 Tennessee and U.S. Region IV Small Business Subcontractor of the Year.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to President and CEO Sheila F. McLendon, Vice President and Laboratory Director D. Rick Davis, and Robert E. “Bob” Boyd Director, Business Development and on behalf of all the employees of Empirical Laboratories, LLC.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
