RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-354

A resolution recognizing Ray Fuller, Traffic Warrant Officer, on the occasion of his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, effective June 27, 2008, Ray Fuller, retired from the Traffic Violations Bureau’s Warrant Office after almost 28 years of faithful and dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Ray Fuller, a native of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee was born in 1924 to Edwin Ray Fuller, Sr. and Josie May Fuller; he graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 1943, and immediately upon graduation was drafted into the Army for what would be a 2½ year tour of duty; and

WHEREAS, after his discharge from the Army in 1946, Ray Fuller played pro ball briefly before going to work at American Radiator Standard, and in 1949 he joined NES where he worked for 31 years before retiring as the supervisor of meter readers; and

WHEREAS, Ray Fuller joined the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) in 1955 although he began officiating in 1953, and in 2003 after 50 years of officiating he was inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame, a most befitting recognition of his outstanding service to Tennessee high school athletics; and

WHEREAS, Ray Fuller, who came to work for the Metropolitan Government as a Traffic Warrant Officer in 1980, is a man of true character and commitment, and he exemplifies the type of selfless community servant and civic leader who is admired for his tireless efforts, professionalism, ability and integrity; and

WHEREAS, throughout his illustrious careers, Mr. Fuller has been supported by his loving wife Anita, his sons Ronald and Kevin, and daughter Jackie; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Ray Fuller for his untiring service and wish him much happiness on his retirement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Ray Fuller, Traffic Warrant Officer, on the occasion of his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Ray Fuller.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
