RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-276

A resolution approving an application for the Governor’s Highway Safety – Alcohol Saturation Grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Police Department, to enhance the enforcement of driving under the influence laws to reduce traffic fatalities.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, is accepting applications for the Governor’s Highway Safety – Alcohol Saturation Grant in an amount not to exceed $1,098,969.73 with no match required; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application for the Governor’s Highway Safety – Alcohol Saturation Grant to enhance the enforcement of driving under the influence laws to reduce traffic fatalities, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved and said grant application is authorized to be submitted to the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
