RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-256

A resolution recognizing and honoring Robby Yates, of Lakeview Elementary Design Center on his selection as Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools 2009 Teacher of the Year.

WHEREAS, Robby Yates was recently selected Teacher of the Year at Lakeview Elementary Design Center and named as a finalist for the Metropolitan Nashville Public School 2009 Elementary School Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Robby Yates, educator at Lakeview Elementary Design Center, has devoted his career to providing the highest quality of education for Tennessee’s students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, Robby Yates, is a native Nashvillian, a graduate of Hunters Lane Comprehensive High School in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System; he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay University in Elementary Education; and

WHEREAS, Robby Yates brings enthusiasm and energy to his students, has an excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation, and vision that has brought invaluable assets to not only the classroom but to Lakeview Elementary Design Center; and

WHEREAS, Robby Yates has dedicated 12 years educating the boys and girls in our school district; served as a mentor for new teachers in MNPS; has served on Lakeview’s Leadership Team and assisted in developing the Elementary course outline for our district; and

WHEREAS, he is an extremely talented and compassionate educator who works assiduously to motivate his students to reach their full potential, both as scholars and as citizens; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Robby Yates on receiving this honor and commend his exceptional service to his students, salute his professional expertise and wish him all the best.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and honoring Robby Yates, of Lakeview Elementary Design Center on his selection as Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools 2009 Teacher of the Year.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Robby Yates

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
