RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-240

A resolution approving a contract with Stericycle, Inc. to provide medical waste collection services.

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 2.01 of the Metropolitan Charter, the Metropolitan Government has the authority to “collect and dispose of garbage and other refuse within the urban services district;” and

WHEREAS, pursuant to its authority under section 2.01 of the Metropolitan Charter and the terms of the contract (the “Contract”) attached hereto as Exhibit A, the Metropolitan Government proposes to contract with Stericycle, Inc. to provide medical waste collection services for various departments; and

WHEREAS, Section 4.12.220 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws calls for Council approval by Resolution of certain contracts “providing for the collection, transportation and/or disposal of solid waste;” and

WHEREAS, approval of the Agreement will benefit the citizens of Davidson County by providing an economical and efficient means of collecting medical waste.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: The Contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Stericycle, Inc., attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

SECTION 2: Any amendments, renewals, or extension of the terms of the Agreement must be approved by Resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

SECTION 3: This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
