RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-206

A resolution approving an amendment to a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Action Commission for programs designed to provide services to assist low-income individuals achieve self-sufficiency.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, previously entered into a Grant Agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide services designed to assist low- income individuals achieve self-sufficiency; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend that Grant Agreement to increase the amount of the grant by $97,585.15 for a new grant total of $5,704,810.08, a copy of which Amendment 3 is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Amendment 3 to the grant by and between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metro Action Commission, for programs designed to provide services to assist low-income individuals achieve self-sufficiency, a copy of which Amendment 3 is attached hereto and incorporated herein, be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Madam President:

I move to amend RS2008-206 by amending by deleting the phrase “U.S. Department of Health and Human Services”, wherein it appears in the caption, in the first recital clause, and in Section 1 of the Resolution, and substituting in lieu thereof the phrase “Tennessee Department of Human Services”.
