RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-161
A resolution approving an application for a grant from The Memorial Foundation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Sheriff’s Department to install PLATO educational software in all five DCSO jail facilities to enhance the skill level of offenders in education, life skill, and employment.
WHEREAS, The Memorial Foundation is accepting grant applications for PLATO educational software, with an award of $237,930.00, and no match required; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,
WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government’s application for a grant from the Memorial Foundation for PLATO education software in all five DCSO jail facilities to enhance the skill level of offenders in education, life skill, and employment, with an award of $237,930.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Sheriff’s Department is authorized to submit said application to The Memorial Foundation.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
