RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-154
A resolution expressing support for the Metropolitan Board of Public Education in planning for a new elementary school and middle school in the Antioch area.
WHEREAS, the Antioch area has experienced a housing boom over the past several years, which has resulted in many new people moving into the area, especially families with young children; and
WHEREAS, the school capacity in the Antioch area has failed to keep pace with the recent escalation in the number of students who attend the schools; and
WHEREAS, although construction is under way for the new Cane Ridge High School, which will help relieve the overcrowding at Antioch High School, statistical analyses show that a new elementary and middle school will be needed in the Antioch area within the next five years; and
WHEREAS, a number of new developments in the Antioch area have offered property for new schools; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Board of Public Education should begin planning for a new elementary and middle school in Antioch, including site acquisition; and
