RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-134
A resolution authorizing The Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the recovery claim of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County against Hamlin Mooreland.
Whereas, on July 15, 2007, Hamlin Mooreland accidentally drove his vehicle into the rear of a police car belonging to the Metropolitan Government while the officer responsible for the police car was engaged in issuing a traffic citation to another motorist; and,
Whereas, the accident resulted in significant damage to the police car; and,
Whereas, after investigation, the Department of Law believes that the settlement described in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government, and recommends that the Metropolitan Government accept payment in the amount of $12,619.82 as compensation for all damages to Metropolitan Government property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1: The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the recovery claim against Hamlin Mooreland in an amount totaling $12,619.82, and that this amount be deposited into the appropriate fund and account as determined by the Department of Finance.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
