RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-130

A resolution approving an application for a Gang Resistance Education and Training Grant from the United States Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice is accepting applications for a Gang Resistance Education and Training Grant, with an award of $150,000, and a match of $24,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application by The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for Gang Resistance Education and Training Grant, with an award of $150,000, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is authorized to submit said application to the United States Department of Justice.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
