RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-123

A resolution recognizing the Neighborhood Association Presidents of Council District 6 of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we recognize those estimable public servants who, through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true community leaders and who have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, such individuals who take pride in their neighborhood in serving their respective Neighborhood Association as President are East End Neighborhood Association - 2003: Lindsey Fairbanks, 2004-2005: Jean Harrison, 2006 and 2008: Michael Kreyling and 2007: Jeff Ockerman; Eastwood Neighbors - 2002-2005: Michael Klamann, 2006: Amanda Beam, and 2007 Margaret Darby, Historic Edgefield, Inc. - 2002-2003: Jane Andrews, 2003-2004: Kristina Wait, 2004-2006: Thom Brown, and 2006-2007: Tom Harding, Lockeland Springs Neighborhood Association - 2003: Tim Walker, 2004: Andrew Duthie, 2005: Eric Jans, 2006 (partial): Emily Mercer, 2006-2007: Alicia Burns, 2007 (partial): Sherry Owens, 2008: Bob Borzak, Maxwell Area Neighborhood Association -1997-2000: Priscilla Eaton, 2000-2001: Louis Jackson, 2001-2006: Larry Eaton, and 2006-Present: Kay Hanson & Louis Jackson (acting co-presidents), Urban Residents Association (downtown) - 2003-2005: Michelle Trueba and 2005-2007: Skip Courtney; and

WHEREAS, their love of their community has longed fueled their vision of bringing new life to their neighborhood while keeping their neighborhoods best interests in mind and they epitomize the ideal of the consummate public servant, reliable friend and neighbor; and

WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Association current and former presidents of the 6th District have remarkable compassion and dedication as public servants, are attributable to their reliance on the time-honored values of hard work and common sense and the ability to work well with people from all walks, cultural heritage, socio-economics; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the Neighborhood Association Presidents of the 6th District for their leadership and community advocacy and convey to them our appreciation for the hard work they are doing in serving their neighborhood.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Neighborhood Association Presidents of Council District 6 of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to each current and former Neighborhood Association President of the 6th District.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
