RESOLUTION NO. RS2008-120
A resolution recognizing and congratulating Samson Gaynon on winning second place in the “Beautiful Nashville says ‘NO’ to Trashville” art contest for 2007.
WHEREAS, Bordeaux Elementary Enhanced School 4th grader Samson Gaynon, is a highly motivated and talented young man whose creative abilities allowed him to submit the second place winning artwork in the “Beautiful Nashville says ‘NO’ to Trashville” art contest; and
WHEREAS, the “Beautiful Nashville says ‘NO’ to Trashville” contest was opened to all Metro public elementary third and fourth graders, with the top 61 entries being displayed on the sides of city waste trucks; and
WHEREAS, the competition was sponsored by the Metro Nashville Public Schools, Metro Nashville Public Works and Red River Service Corporation, Nashville’s largest waste collection service provider; and
WHEREAS, Samson Gaynon’s, art work will be featured in Metro’s second annual citywide environmental education campaign, will be displayed on the side of a waste collection truck as it services their route throughout Metro Nashville, and was displayed during a viewing on December 8, 2007, on Titans Way, he also received funds for his school’s art department; and
WHEREAS, his noteworthy achievements are a tremendous source of pride for his family, friends, and his school; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Samson Gaynon and extends their congratulations to him on his accomplishment and encourage him to seek opportunities to expand his horizons and capabilities.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as and congratulating Samson Gaynon on winning second place in the “Beautiful Nashville says ‘NO’ to Trashville” art contest for 2007.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Samson Gaynon.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
