A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to submit an application to the Tennessee Department of Transportation for a grant through the Transportation Enhancement Program for proposed streetscape enhancements along Murfreesboro Road between Bowwood Court and Foothill Drive.

WHEREAS, Metropolitan Nashville is in a position to prepare a competitive application for a grant under the Transportation Enhancement Program; and

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is accepting applications for the FY 2008 Transportation Enhancement Program; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency hereby accepts oversight and management responsibility of the grant and will provide the matching funds; and,

WHEREAS, the application for a Transportation Enhancement Program grant is to be submitted to the Tennessee Department of Transportation on or before December 14, 2007.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to submit an application for a FY 2008 Transportation Enhancement Program grant through the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency accepts oversight and management responsibility of the grant and will provide the matching funds.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
