RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-62

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for improvements to Interstate 40 at 28th Avenue and Jefferson Street in North Nashville.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is accepting applications for an Enhancement Grant with an award of $640,000 and a required match of $160,000; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government’s application for a grant for improvements to Interstate 40 at 28th Avenue and Jefferson Street in North Nashville to beautify the entrances for visitors, residents, daily commuters, and students, with an estimated award of $640,000, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and said application is authorized to be submitted to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
