RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-47

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, for the construction of recreation trails to connect Opry Mills to the Cumberland River Greenway.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, is accepting applications for an Enhancement Grant with an award of $2,000,000 and a required match of $500,000; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County will benefit by submission of this grant application.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government’s application for a grant for the construction of recreation trails to connect Opry Mills to the Cumberland River Greenway with an estimated award of $2,000,000, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and said application is authorized to be submitted to the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
