RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-39

A resolution recognizing and congratulating Ruby Major Elementary School Principal Teresa A. Dennis named the 2007 Distinguished Principal for the State of Tennessee.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should recognize those outstanding administrators who have devoted their careers to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee’s students; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Teresa A. Dennis, having been in education for 33 years, is one such educator, who has distinguished herself as a professional of the greatest dedication, ability, and integrity; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Dennis has been selected this year’s Distinguished Principal for the State of Tennessee named by the Tennessee Principals Association, an honor most befitting her outstanding tenure as an administrator, while recognizing the positive influence she has on so many young lives; and

WHEREAS, the National Distinguished Principal Award is given to those who set the pace, character, and quality of the education children receive during their early school years and show evidence of outstanding contributions to the well-being of the educational community; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious honor allowed the long-time educator to represent the State of Tennessee at the Washington, D.C. celebration ceremony at the National Association of Elementary School Principals’ Program; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Dennis has served with the utmost acumen and alacrity throughout her outstanding tenure with the Metropolitan Nashville Public school system; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Dennis is an extremely talented and compassionate administrator who works assiduously to ensure that all students at Ruby Major Elementary will reach their full potential, both as scholars and as citizens; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Dennis truly serves as an inspiration to her colleagues, faculty, staff and students alike, and her friendship and counsel are highly valued by those who are fortunate to know her; and

WHEREAS, Teresa A. Dennis truly epitomizes the ideal of the dedicated administrator who is committed to the highest ideals of public service and quality education for all; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Teresa A. Dennis on being selected as Tennessee’s best principal, commend her exceptional service, salute her professional expertise and personal excellence, and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Ruby Major Elementary School Principal Teresa A. Dennis named the 2007 Distinguished Principal for the Sate of Tennessee.


Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Ruby Major Elementary Principal Teresa A. Dennis.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
