RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-35

A resolution appropriating $4,250 from the State of Tennessee, State Board of Equalization, to the Davidson County Property Assessor’s Office for a salary supplement for deputy assessors who successfully complete designated courses of study.

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated § 67-1-508 provides that the State Board of Equalization may provide grants to counties to fund incentive increases of compensation for those assessors and their deputies who successfully complete certain courses of study and field training, and attain certain levels of increased competence and technical skills as prescribed and provided by the Board of Equalization; and

WHEREAS, T.C.A. § 67-1-508(c) further provides that funds provided for this program may only be used as a cash salary bonus supplement, and may not be used to supplant existing salaries; and

WHEREAS, the State Board of Equalization has approved a total payment of $4,250 to the Davidson County Property Assessor’s Office to be distributed among four approved recipients, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Davidson County Property Assessor’s Office.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the amount of Four Thousand Two Hundred Fifty dollars ($4,250.00) from the State of Tennessee, State Board of Equalization, for a salary supplement for deputy property assessors who successfully complete designated courses of study, is hereby appropriated to the Davidson County Property Assessor’s Office.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
