RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-26
A resolution accepting an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in an amount not to exceed $897,864 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; and,
WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant by and between the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, in an amount not to exceed $897,864, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.
Section 2. That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Police Department, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Office of the District Attorney, the Office of the Public Defender, Davidson County Juvenile Court, the State Trial Courts, Justice Integration Services (JIS), the Sheriff’s Office, and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
