A resolution approving an Interlocal Agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the United States Department of Justice by which the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shall provide police assistance to the Middle Tennessee Drug Enforcement Task Force.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has requested the assistance of the Metropolitan Police Department to assist the Middle Tennessee Drug Enforcement Task Force by assigning one or more experienced police officers to the Task Force; and,

WHEREAS, the DEA will reimburse the Metropolitan Government up to $15,854.25 per officer for overtime work for the Task Force; and,

WHEREAS, T.C.A. § 12-9-104 authorizes the Metropolitan Government to enter into interlocal agreements with agencies of the federal government for cooperative projects with the approval of the governing body; and,

WHEREAS, the work of the Middle Tennessee Drug Enforcement Task Force promotes goals of both the Metropolitan Government and the DEA; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the Interlocal Agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Interlocal Agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Police Department and the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, for the assistance of Metropolitan police officers to the Middle Tennessee Drug Enforcement Task Force, for reimbursement of up to $15,854.25 for overtime per officer, and for a term ending on September 30, 2008 (attached hereto and made a part of this resolution) is hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the agreement and all required certifications.

Section 2. That this resolution shall become effective from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
