A resolution approving an amendment to a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Labor and Workforce Development, to establish programs to prepare adults, youth, and dislocated workers for re-entry into the labor force and to offer training to those facing serious barriers to productive employment (08-09-PY7-109-ADMIN).

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County previously entered into a Grant Agreement with the State of Tennessee, Department of Labor and Workforce Development, to establish programs to prepare adults, youth, and dislocated workers for re-entry into the labor force and to offer training to those facing serious barriers to productive employment; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend that Grant Agreement to increase the amount of the grant by $247,947.00, from $51,162.00 to $299,109.00, a copy of which Amendment is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this Amendment be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Amendment to the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, to establish programs to prepare adults, youth, and dislocated workers for re-entry into the labor force and to offer training to those facing serious barriers to productive employment, a copy of which Amendment is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Nashville Career Advancement Center based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
