A resolution amending the pay plan for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County approved under Resolution No. RS2005-872, to reflect changes to the federal minimum wage laws.

Whereas, a pay plan was adopted for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by passage of Resolution No. RS2005-872; and

Whereas, the general employee pay plan includes a part-time/seasonal rate chart; and

Whereas, a new federal minimum wage bill was signed into law by the President of the United States and became effective on July 24, 2007; and

Whereas, the minimum wage has been increased to $5.85 per hour as of July 24, 2007; and

Whereas, the minimum wage will increase to $6.55 per hour as of July 24, 2008, and to $7.25 per hour as of July 24, 2009; and

Whereas, if the part-time/seasonal rate chart is not amended for 2007, 2008, and 2009, some positions will pay an amount under the new minimum wage limits; and

Whereas, it will be necessary to amend the pay plan created by Resolution No. RS2005-872 to provide for these changes in the minimum wage.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. The pay plan for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, established by Resolution No. RS2005-872 is amended, as of July 24, 2007, by deleting the part-time/seasonal rate chart in its entirety and by adding the part-time/seasonal rate chart which is attached hereto as Exhibit “A” and incorporated into this Resolution as if fully set out herein.

Section 2. The pay plan for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, established by Resolution No. RS2005-872 is amended, as of July 24, 2008, by deleting the part-time/seasonal rate chart in its entirety and by adding the part-time/seasonal rate chart which is attached hereto as Exhibit “B” and incorporated into this Resolution as if fully set out herein.

Section 3. The pay plan for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, established by Resolution No. RS2005-872 is amended, as of July 24, 2009, by deleting the part time/seasonal rate chart in its entirety and by adding the part-time/seasonal rate chart which is attached hereto as Exhibit “C” and incorporated into this Resolution as if fully set out herein.

Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
