RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-2104
A resolution approving an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the United States Marshals Service and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for joint participation in Project Safe Surrender.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the United States Marshals Service to provide for joint participation in Project Safe Surrender; and,
WHEREAS, Project Safe Surrender is a program sponsored by the United States Marshals Service to provide a peaceful resolution to outstanding criminal warrants, thereby increasing officer safety; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Marshals Service will reimburse the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department for certain expenditures made during the implementation of Project Safe Surrender.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the intergovernmental agreement by and between the United States Marshals Service and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County which provides for joint participation in Project Safe Surrender, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
