A resolution recognizing the 2006-2007 Whites Creek High School “Cobras” Boys Basketball Team.

WHEREAS, this superlative team completed a successful regular season of basketball competition by bouncing their way through their opponents, while posting an outstanding regular season record of 31 wins and 4 losses, advancing to the TSSAA State Tournament by capturing the Region 6 AAA Championship and the District 12 AAA Championship; and

WHEREAS, in addition to Head Coach Jim Nollner’s able leadership, the team benefited from the hard work and guidance of Assistant Coach Anthony Law, Athletic Principal Ron L. Woodard and Executive Principal Dr. James S. Jenkins; and

WHEREAS, the members of this remarkable team are Robert Ellison, DeMarcus Johnson, Lamar Brinkley, Josh Harbert, Tyler Allen, Calvin Roberts, Demonte Harper, Josh Eddy, Justin Marlowe and Fabian Laronde; and

WHEREAS, this season's phenomenal effort was led by the outstanding performances of Jamie Graham: TSSAA All Tournament Team, All Region Team, Region 6 MVP, and District 12 MVP, Josh Eddy: All Region Team, All District Team, Demonte Harper: All Region Team, All District Team: Fabian Laronde: All Region Team, Civitan Sportsmanship Award and Calvin Roberts: All Region Team; and

WHEREAS, the dedication, determination, work ethic, and talent of this group of young men not only has made for a successful and memorable basketball season, but also points toward their success in future endeavors; and

WHEREAS, displaying great sportsmanship and outstanding character, the Whites Creek “Cobras” conducted themselves in a manner appropriate to the integrity of their school and the City of Nashville; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable team also are the Leroy Wright Invitational and the Civitan Tournament Champions; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the 2006-2007 Whites Creek “Cobras” Boys Basketball Team and our heartiest congratulations go out to the team, coaches, school administrators, and student body.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.  The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Whites Creek High School “Cobras” Boys Basketball Team.

Section 2.  The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Head Coach Jim Nollner on behalf of the team.

Section 3.  This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
