RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1911
A resolution recognizing Miss Young Kyung Jeong, 2007 Valedictorian of Antioch High School.
WHEREAS, it is fitting to pause and pay tribute to those students who through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic excellence have distinguished themselves in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, Miss Young Kyung Jeong is one such exceptional student, who was named Valedictorian of the 2007 graduating class at Antioch High School; and
WHEREAS, through diligent study, steady composure during examinations, and steadfast commitment of time and talent, Miss Jeong has achieved outstanding academic success, and has joined the ranks of the best and brightest students in Tennessee and our country; and
WHEREAS, in her remarkable high school career, Miss Jeong has earned an exemplary grade point average of 98.7%, and her display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes well for her future success; and
WHEREAS, during her remarkable high school career, Miss Jeong, a talented young woman of the highest caliber, participated in several extracurricular endeavors, including serving as a second chair principal of school Orchestra, a member of Korean Youth Church Orchestra of Holy Spirit Church, a piano player for Manmi Church Jazz Band in which she participated in several public concerts as she demonstrated her musical talent. She also participated in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Chicago of which she now serves as an alumni; and
WHEREAS, no stranger to honors and accolades, Miss Jeong’s scholarly achievements include the National Honor Society of High School Scholars, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Principal’s List for four full years, highest average in AP Biology, Pre-Calculus with Trig, Latin II, Honors Algebra II, Honors Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish I; and
WHEREAS, as a young woman of unsurpassed character and commitment Young participated in the 2004 Pulse Day as a captain, Church of Holy Spirit special worship service for homeless, and various church activities that show that Young’s involvement in her community greatly contribute to the betterment of her community and reflect the true spirit of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Young Jeong’s noteworthy achievements are a tremendous source of pride for her parents, Hyun Suk Jeong and Hae Dong Jeong, her borther Seung Kyu Jeong, her school and her community; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes 2007 Antioch High School Valedictorian, Miss Young Kyung Jeong, on her impressive academic achievement, and extend to her our best wishes for a happy, successful future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Miss Young Kyung Jeong, 2007 Valedictorian of Antioch High School.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Miss Young Kyung Jeong.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
