RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1909

A resolution recognizing Antoine Buchanan Sr., “A Dad Who Makes a Difference”.

WHEREAS, Antoine F. Buchanan Sr. was featured in Jump In!, an educational journal fostering the connection between home and school, for his dedication to making a difference in the life of his child and other children; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Buchanan who served as co-president of the Hattie Cotton PTO Action Team for 2006, is an active member of the Maplewood Cluster Parent Advisory Council, board member of Madison Little League and Coach of the Minor League Blue Jays, has truly demonstrated parental involvement in the life of his child, Antoine, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Antoine Buchanan Sr., who works for the Metropolitan Police Department utilizes most of his off-duty time to foster the importance of parental connections between school and children, and for that effort was also featured on the September 2006 PTO Today journal, along with the Hattie Cotton Co-PTO Action Team President, Ms. Denoris Hamer; and

WHEREAS, Antoine Buchanan Sr., has worked tirelessly with the parents and staff of Hattie Cotton School to encourage active participation of parents and relatives in the education of children through holding various Celebrity Read Nights, school events focusing on the importance of reading to children; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Buchanan is married to Jolanda Buchanan and has committed to providing a positive role model image for their son Antoine Jr.; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mr. Antoine Buchanan Sr., for his work and wishes him much happiness in his future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.  The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Antoine Buchanan Sr., “A Dad Who Makes a Difference”.

Section 2.  The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Antoine Buchanan Sr.

Section 3.  This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
