RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1908
A resolution recognizing Mr. D.E. Ryan, founder of the Bellevue Picnic and Music Festival, the “Longest Ongoing Festival in Nashville”.
WHEREAS, instrumental in the founding of the Bellevue Picnic and Music Festival Mr. D.E. Ryan, began the picnic 30 years ago as an event for the community of Bellevue which has become an annual tradition; and
WHEREAS, on May 19, 2007, the 30th Annual Bellevue Picnic and Music Festival will be held at the Red Caboose Park in the heart of Bellevue; and
WHEREAS, this event began with a small cookout and watermelon and has grown into a festival of over 10,000 attendees, with rides, vendor booths, entertainment and fireworks; and
WHEREAS, the event, marked each year by good food, games and music is celebrating its 30th anniversary of providing good family fun, music and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, among the highlights this year will be a VIP Reception and Opening Ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the VIP tent and entertainment stage, rides, vendor and artisan booths, incredible musical entertainment from 4 different stages, and a phenomenal fireworks presentation to close the day; and
WHEREAS, along with the residents of the Bellevue community, the picnic will be attended by a number of distinguished guests including each mayoral candidate, metro council members, Mayor Bill Purcell, and possibly Lamar Alexander; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ryan is very active with The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Planning and Zoning in the Bellevue Chamber, very active member of the new Bellevue YMCA and J. L. Turner Senior Center, serves on the board of the Bellevue Chamber and on the board for the Bellevue YMCA and J L Turner Center Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, this remarkable man maintains a wonderful attitude and outlook and has a zest for life and his faith, perseverance and cheerful spirit are an inspiration to all who know him; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mr. D.E. Ryan, for his ongoing commitment to the Bellevue community.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. D.E. Ryan, founder of the Bellevue Picnic and Music Festival, the “Longest Ongoing Festival in Nashville”.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. D.E. Ryan, founder of the Bellevue Picnic and Music Festival.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
