RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1905
A resolution recognizing Rena Mae Whitelow Upton, on the occasion of her retirement.
WHEREAS, Rena Mae Whitelow Upton has played an instrumental role with the Metropolitan Government for over 37 years, and has retired from the Metropolitan Government Criminal Court Clerks Office; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure with Metro Government Rena served as a Clerk to Mayor Briley, and Administrative Assistant to Mayor Fulton; and
WHEREAS, in 1982, Mrs. Upton worked as a Court Administrator in the Criminal Court Office in which capacity she served until her retirement in January of 2007; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Upton, graduated from Pearl High School before continuing her education at Tennessee State University, was united in marriage to James W. Upton, Sr., her soul mate, and from their blessed union were born four wonderful and devoted children: Regina, Patricia, Marion and James Jr. Mrs. Upton has also been blessed with five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Upton is a devoted housewife and mother, as well as a member of United Primitive Baptist where she serves as the President of the Mothers Union, she also served as school volunteer throughout the years for different functions, and enjoys reading; and
WHEREAS, the professionalism, dedication, and patience, Mrs. Upton demonstrated on a daily basis in working for the Metropolitan Government is an inspiration to all who know her; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Rena Mae Whitelow Upton for her accomplishments with the Metropolitan Government and wishes her much success in her future endeavors.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Rena Mae Whitelow Upton, on the occasion of her retirement.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Rena Mae Whitelow Upton.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
