RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1804
A resolution recognizing and congratulating the Hattie Cotton Elementary PTO on the occasion of being named 2006 National Parent Group of the Year.
WHEREAS, it is fitting to recognize those parents who, through their extraordinary efforts, talents and energy, have distinguished themselves as leaders; and
WHEREAS, one such group is the Hattie Cotton Elementary School PTO who recently received the 2006 National Parent Group of the Year Award which is presented by PTO Today; and
WHEREAS, the Parent Group of the Year Award is an annual award given to those parents who show leadership, has superior all-around involvement efforts and emphasizes a variety of accomplishments and activities, including family events; and
WHEREAS, the Hattie Cotton Elementary PTO was recognized for their vision, hands-on approach, and hard work to make sure more parents get connected to the school and feel comfortable taking an active role in their children's education; and
WHEREAS, through the steadfast support of Principal Dr. Karen Hamilton, and the support of staff along with the Hattie Cotton Elementary PTO, they have implemented a number of programs and opportunities for both parents and students alike; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Principal Dr. Karen Hamilton, Familiy School Coordinator Nancy Pigg, Co-chair Antione Buchanan Sr., Co-chair Denoris Hamer and members of the Hattie Cotton Elementary PTO for their service to the school and wish them every continued success in their future endeavors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating the Hattie Cotton Elementary PTO on the occasion of being named 2006 national Parent Group of the Year.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dr. Karen Hamilton, Principal of Hattie Cotton Elementary on behalf of the Hattie Cotton Elementary PTO.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
