A resolution recognizing Police Officer Danita Marsh of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

WHEREAS, it is fitting to recognize those who put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of the citizens of Nashville and who have performed above and beyond the call of duty; and

WHEREAS, Police Officer Danita Marsh of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's North Precinct is one such outstanding public servant dedicated to the enforcement of the law; and

WHEREAS, on the morning of October 27, 2006, while assisting a domestic assault victim, Police Officer Danita Marsh was ambushed and critically wounded in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, graduating from the Nashville Police Academy through hard work, dedication and determination, Officer Marsh attained her dream of becoming a Nashville police officer; and

WHEREAS, Officer Marsh served with bravery and ability during her tenure, earning praise for a career marked by selfless service; and

WHEREAS, Officer Danita Marsh was named the Metropolitan Police Department's Patrol Officer of the Year for 2006; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Police Officer Danita Marsh, an exceptional officer and young woman who made an enormous sacrifice while serving her community, and we wish her well.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing. Police Officer Danita Marsh of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Officer Danita Marsh of the North Precinct Station.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
