RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1801

A resolution recognizing Pastor Glenda Gleaves-Sutton upon receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award.

WHEREAS, Glenda Gleaves-Sutton, pastor of Family Affair Ministries in south Inglewood, recently received the President of the United States of America's Gold Level Volunteer Service Award presented by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation; and

WHEREAS, this award is given to those nominated who have dedicated significant time over the course of their lives to serving others; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Glenda Gleaves-Sutton, upon her arrival in Nashville in 1988, has faithfully served East Nashville for 12 years and South Inglewood for 7 years, including extensive work with lower income families and children; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Glenda Gleaves-Sutton has accomplished many community-minded projects, including the establishment of Family Affair Ministries Fellowship and Family Affair Ministries, Inc., her work with the Berkshire Community, formerly known as Panorama, which also includes the building and opening of a Dollar General Store; and a three year partnership with Volunteer Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, the families receiving services from Pastor Glenda Gleaves-Sutton have made significant changes in their lives; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Glenda Gleaves-Sutton's spiritual leadership, guidance and innovative ideas are an inspiration to all who know her; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Glenda Gleaves- Sutton on this achievement and wish her continued success in the ministry and the work she does throughout the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Pastor Glenda Gleaves Sutton upon receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Pastor Glenda Gleaves Sutton of Family Affair Ministries.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
