RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1798

A resolution recognizing and congratulating Mrs. Laura Karkau as being chosen the 2007-2008 "Teacher of the Year" at Lakeview Elementary Design Center.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Laura Karkau, educator at Lakeview Elementary Design Center, has devoted her career to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee's students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Laura Karkau has recently been selected by her colleagues as "Teacher of the Year" at Lakeview Elementary Design Center, an honor most befitting her outstanding tenure as a teacher as it recognizes the positive influence she has on so many young lives; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Laura Karkau a graduate of the Lipscomb University, has been teaching our young children for over 6 years, and is currently teaching Third Grade at Lakeview Elementary Design Center; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Laura Karkau brings enthusiasm and energy to her students, has an excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation, and vision that has brought invaluable assets to not only the classroom but to Lakeview Elementary Design Center; and

WHEREAS, Laura has been the grade level chairperson at Lakeview, as well as participated on the writing committee. Mrs. Karkau was the host teacher for our Reading residency with Regie Routman for 2004-2005; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mrs. Laura Karkau on being chosen as "Teacher of the Year" at Lakeview Elementary Design Center, commend her exceptional service to her students, salute her professional expertise and wish her all the best.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Mrs. Laura Karkau as being chosen the 2007-2008 "Teacher of the Year" at Lakeview Elementary Design Center.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mrs. Laura Karkau.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
