RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1735

A resolution approving an agreement between the United States Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the reimbursement of certain expenses to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

WHEREAS, the United States Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is authorized under 31 U.S.C. 9703 to reimburse local law enforcement agencies for certain expenses incurred by their participation in joint operations and investigations; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is eligible to receive reimbursement for certain expenses from ICE, as specified in the Agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that such Agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the United States Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the reimbursement of certain expenses to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That any amendments to the terms of the Agreement must be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 3. That any funds received pursuant to this Agreement shall be appropriated to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
