A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the Harpeth River Watershed Association, The Land Trust for Tennessee, Inc., the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association, B.U.R.N.T., Friends of Nashville, and the homeowner association boards of the Boone Trace, Lexington Pointe and Riverwalk subdivisions to consider accepting a donation of the old Hutton Stone Quarry property located at 7448 McCrory Lane for purposes of land preservation.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation has the responsibility under the Metropolitan Charter to recommend to the Council the acceptance of any gift of lands offered for park or recreation purposes and useful for such purposes; and

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation was created to protect and improve the quality of our state's land, air, water and recreation resources; and

WHEREAS, the Harpeth River Watershed Association is an organization whose mission is to protect and restore the Harpeth River Watershed and to provide expertise in statewide conservation policy; and

WHEREAS, the Land Trust for Tennessee is a nonprofit corporation that works with willing landowners to preserve the scenic and natural values of their land; and

WHEREAS, The Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, protection and restoration of the scenic rivers in Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, B.U.R.N.T. (Bring Urban Recycling to Nashville Today) is a nonprofit environmental organization whose mission is to promote a toxic-free environment for Nashville and surrounding areas by, in part, making the community aware of conditions that endanger water and air quality; and

WHEREAS, the old Hutton Stone Quarry property located at 7448 McCrory Lane is worthy of preservation to protect the quality of the scenic Harpeth River and to enhance the health and safety of the residents of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that a donation of the old Hutton Stone Quarry property be accepted for the purposes of conservation and preservation to prevent any future harmful use of the property.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the Harpeth River Watershed Association, The Land Trust for Tennessee, Inc., the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association, B.U.R.N.T., and the homeowner association boards of the Boone Trace, Lexington Pointe and Riverwalk subdivisions to consider accepting a donation of the old Hutton Stone Quarry property located at 7448 McCrory Lane for purposes of land preservation.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the Harpeth River Watershed Association, The Land Trust for Tennessee, Inc., the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association, B.U.R.N.T., and the homeowner association boards of the Boone Trace, Lexington Pointe and Riverwalk subdivisions.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
