RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1718

A resolution amending Resolution No. RS2002-920, as amended, to permit council infrastructure funds to be used for the installation of police surveillance cameras within the public right-of-way.

WHEREAS, on January 31, 2002, the Metropolitan County Council adopted Resolution No. RS2002-920, as amended, which appropriated to the Department of Public Works two million dollars ($2,000,000) for infrastructure improvements, with a provision that not more than $57,142.85 be expended in any one council district; and

WHEREAS, Substitute Ordinance No. BL2002-1073, the 2002-2003 budget ordinance adopted by the Metropolitan County Council, appropriated $350,000 to the Reserve for Council Infrastructure Improvement Program, to provide additional funding for the program adopted under Resolution No. RS2002-920, as amended; and

WHEREAS, on August 20, 2002, the Metropolitan County Council adopted Resolution No. RS2002-1125, which appropriated to the Department of Public Works an additional $350,000 for infrastructure improvements, with a provision that not more than $10,000 of the supplemental amount be expended in any one council district; and

WHEREAS, on February 4, 2003, the council adopted Resolution No. RS2003-1346 to permit council infrastructure funds designated to be spent in one council district to be combined with funds designated to be spent in another council district for infrastructure projects that would benefit both districts; and

WHEREAS, on February 17, 2004, the council adopted Resolution No. RS2004-179 to permit council infrastructure funds to be used for right-of-way improvements including the installation of flagpoles and median reconstruction; and

WHEREAS, the council now desires to permit the use of council infrastructure funds for the installation of police surveillance cameras within the public right-of-way.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. Resolution No. RS2002-920, as amended, shall be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 1 by adding after the phrase "street paving activities," the phrase "the installation of police surveillance cameras within the public right-of-way,".

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
