RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1707

A resolution recognizing Abigail Howland of Una Elementary School.

WHEREAS, Abigail Howland a 4th grader at Una Elementary School, is a gifted, well-rounded individual who submitted an entry for the Celebrate Nashville! Keep it Beautiful Art Contest; and

WHEREAS, the Celebrate Nashville! Keep it Beautiful Art Contest was opened to third and fourth grade students in Davidson County with the top 72 entries being displayed on the sides of waste trucks as part of a city-wide beautification campaign over the next nine months; and

WHEREAS, the competition was sponsored by Metro Schools, Metro Public Works and Red River Service Corporation, Nashville's largest waste collection service provider; and

WHEREAS, first place winner Abigail Howland, whose art will be featured in a city-wide environmental campaign, received funds for her school's art department; and also was a recent winner of a nation-wide cat drawing art contest; and

WHEREAS, Abigail is highly motivated and talented young lady, representative of the creative ability and academic achievement exhibited by a large number of our Davidson County youth; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Abigail Howland and extends its congratulations on her accomplishments and encourages all young citizens to seek opportunities to expand their horizons and capabilities.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Abigail Howland of Una Elementary School.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Abigail Howland.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
