RESOLUTION NO. RS2007-1705

A resolution recognizing Mr. Don Driscoll.

WHEREAS, Don Driscoll has been a friend and advocate for Nashville's Schools, Public Services, and the people who make our city work everyday; and

WHEREAS, under his leadership, SEIU has been the fastest growing union in Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, his demonstrated commitment to social, racial, and economic justice for all Nashvillians has challenged this community and even this body to strive to do better; and

WHEREAS, SEIU members throughout Nashville continue to make our city work; and

WHEREAS, SEIU and Don Driscoll have been willing to challenge the boundaries of alliance and work with business leaders and church leadership for the good of Nashville; and

WHEREAS, Don Driscoll has served this community as a parent, political activist, and prophetic voice on behalf of Nashville's workers and their children; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and honors the life and commitment of Don Driscoll to our city and its growth and prosperity for all its citizens in the last decade and wishes him well in future endeavors on behalf of working families.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. Don Driscoll.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Don Driscoll.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
