RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1598
A resolution recognizing and commending the UAW-Ford Rescue Squad.
WHEREAS, the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee are fortunate to be able to rely upon the day-to-day professional competence of rescue squad members whose lives are at risk responding to various calls; and
WHEREAS, the UAW-Ford Rescue Squad was formed in 1970, by employees of the Ford Motor Company Glass Plant in West Nashville, and are under the direction and leadership of Captain Marvin Carter; and
WHEREAS, the UAW-Ford Rescue Squad volunteers have unselfishly provided assistance to the residents of the Nashville area and surrounding counties, in the event of an accident, extraction operation, water recovery, searching for seniors who have strayed, or a disaster, for over 35 years; and
WHEREAS, rescue squad volunteer members have served with courage and gallantry, performing duties with the utmost skill, dedication and professionalism and deserve proper recognition for both professional expertise and unquestionable valor; and
WHEREAS, the UAW-Ford Rescue Squad is a member of the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (TARS) which meets annually holding safety classes and seminars, and works to promote research which will serve to advance the techniques of rescue squads and life-saving work throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, those who work in rescue squads provide an invaluable service through their assistance to their community during time of needs and crises; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the UAW-Ford Rescue Squad members who tirelessly give of their time and energy in humanitarian efforts and thank them for their hard work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending the UAW-Ford Rescue Squad.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
