RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1522

A resolution requesting all department heads of the Metropolitan Government to instruct their employees to respond in a timely manner to all constituent services requests initiated by the Metropolitan Council Office.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council Office employs a constituent services officer to receive and process complaints and requests for services made by residents of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, once a request for service is received by the Council Office, notice is sent to a contact person at the agency or department responsible for handling the request; and

WHEREAS, Members of Council are often having difficulty receiving responses to the requests submitted by the Council Office from certain Metropolitan Government departments; and

WHEREAS, Metropolitan Government taxpayers deserve the courtesy of receiving a response to their requests for services, even if the department or agency is unable to remedy the situation or provide the requested assistance; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that all Metropolitan Government department heads instruct their employees to respond to these constituent requests in a timely manner so that the information can be relayed by the Council Office to the constituents.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting all department heads of the Metropolitan Government to instruct their employees to respond in a timely manner to all constituent services requests initiated by the Metropolitan Council Office.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to each department head of the Metropolitan Government.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
