RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1499

A resolution approving an amendment to a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for programs to decrease fire fatality rates.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County previously entered into a Grant Agreement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for programs to decrease fire fatality rates, which Grant Agreement was approved by Resolution RS2005-856; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend that Grant Agreement to extend the grant until September 13, 2006, during which time the remaining grant funds may be utilized, a copy of which Amendment is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant Amendment be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Amendment to the grant agreement by and between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for programs to decrease fire fatality rates, a copy of which grant Amendment is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2006-1499 as follows:

1. By deleting the second recital in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following new clause:

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend that Grant Agreement to extend the grant until December 13, 2006, during which time the remaining grant funds may be utilized, a copy of which Amendment is attached hereto; and,

2. By substituting the Grant Agreement extending the grant to December 13, 2006 (attached), for the Grant Agreement extending the grant to September 13, 2006.
