RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1489

A resolution accepting a $5.4 Million ($5,400,000) High Priority Special Projects grant from the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) federal highway bill to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, for the Rolling Mill Hill Road Connectors and Streetscape Improvements Project related to the revitalization of the Rolling Mill Hill site.

Whereas, Metro Ordinance BL2003-1513 approved the disposition of certain real property owned by The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County commonly known as Rolling Mill Hill (Property) located at Hermitage Avenue, Franklin Street and Peabody Street, (Tax Map 93-11, Parcels 85, 105, 106, 107, 108, 242 and Map 93-7, Part of Parcel 41) to the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, to redevelop the property as a mixed use development and to provide housing opportunities in downtown Nashville and return the property to the tax rolls of the county; and

Whereas, United States Federal Highway Administration, acting though the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed of Five Million Four Hundred Thousand dollars ($5,400,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County through the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, for the proposed Rolling Mill Hill Road Connectors and Streetscape Improvements Project.

Whereas, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency will administer the grant on behalf of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville, and provide funds in the amount equal to or greater than one million eighty thousand dollars ($1,080,000) as a required local match of funds.

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Metropolitan Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the funds be accepted and a grant contract by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, for implementation of the proposed Rolling Mill Hill Road Connectors and Streetscape Improvements Project, in an amount not to exceed of Five Million Four Hundred Thousand dollars ($5,400,000), is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is hereby authorized to administer this grant on behalf of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
