A resolution recognizing the Tennessee Team Pride 10U girl's basketball team upon the completion of an extraordinary season.

WHEREAS, Tennessee Team Pride's remarkable team performance throughout the season culminated with an impressive record of 30-1, that allowed them to advance to the National Tournament in Orlando, Florida, while providing many thrilling moments that will long be remembered as a special time in their young lives; and

WHEREAS, on July 3rd 2006, Tennessee Team Pride girl's basketball team embarked on their greatest achievement of the season by defeating defending National Champion the Arizona Warriors 45-31, for the second time in the tournament, to capture the 2006 10U AAU Girls Division I National Championship at Disney World's Wide World of Sports; and

WHEREAS, this team is led by Head Coach Chris Brown, Assistant coaches Celeste Middleton, Dan Wilkerson and Keith Bodiford, whom should be commended for doing an exceptional job for their commitment in providing leadership and encouragement; and

WHEREAS, members of this remarkable and talented team are Baylie Bodiford, Julia Fox, Madison Hall, Abigail Jakes, Karrah Johnson, Alexa Middleton, Kennesha Nichols, Paige Parker, Jasmine Robinson, Jessica Seiber, Justice Swett; and

WHEREAS, Team Pride went undefeated at the tournament where they played and won 3 games in pool play advancing as the number 1 seed into the Championship tournament; and

WHEREAS, on their way to the championship title Team Pride defeated in the first round of tournament play, the Georgia Lady Eagles by a score of 42-32, in the 2nd round Team Sol by a score of 48-38, in the 3rd round the West Virginia Thunder by a score of 38-32, in the 4th round the Fairfax Stars by a score of 56-35 and in the 5th round the Arizona Warriors by a score of 44-35 and with this victory, Team Pride earned a spot in the final championship game resulting in a National Championship; and

WHEREAS, this seasons 10U Tennessee Team Pride were the champions of the Atlanta AAU Super Regional tournament, Southeastern Tennessee AAU Sub-State and the Southeastern Tennessee AAU State; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Tennessee Team Pride 10U girl's basketball team on its sterling accomplishments and convey their heartiest congratulations to the members of them and their coaches.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Tennessee Team Pride 10U girl's basketball team upon the completion of an extraordinary season.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Head Coach Chris Brown, his staff and the Tennessee Team Pride players.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
