A resolution recognizing and congratulating Mr. James Briggs on receiving the 2006-2007 Administrator of the Year.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should recognize those outstanding administrators who have devoted their careers to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee's students; and

WHEREAS, Mr. James Briggs is one such educator, who has distinguished himself as a professional of the greatest dedication, ability, and integrity; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Briggs has been selected Administrator of the Year for the 2006-2007 school year for the Midstate division of the Tennessee Association of Middle Schools (TAMS), an honor most befitting his outstanding tenure as an administrator, while recognizing the positive influence he has on so many young lives; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious award recognizes him for his outstanding leadership at Apollo Middle School, where he has been principal for four years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Briggs has served with the utmost acumen and alacrity throughout his outstanding tenure with the Metropolitan Nashville Public school system; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Briggs is an extremely talented and compassionate administrator who works assiduously to ensure that his students will reach their full potential, both as scholars and as citizens; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Briggs truly serves as an inspiration to his colleagues, faculty, staff and students alike, and his friendship and counsel are highly valued by those who are fortunate to know him; and

WHEREAS, James Briggs truly epitomizes the ideal of the dedicated administrator who is committed to the highest ideals of public service and quality education for all; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes James Briggs on being selected the Administrator of the Year for the Midstate division of the Tennessee Association of Middle Schools, commend his exceptional service to the children of Tennessee, salute his professional expertise and personal excellence, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Mr. James Briggs on receiving the 2006-2007 Administrator of the Year.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. James Briggs.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
