RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1472

A resolution recognizing and commending Tommy Bradley for his outstanding public service to Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County, State of Tennessee.

WHEREAS, Tommy Bradley was born in 1963 in Nashville Tennessee as one of three children to Charles and Jane Bradley; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Bradley is married to the former Karen K. O'Neal; and

WHEREAS, Tommy and Karen Bradley are the proud parents of Magen Bradley; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Bradley, on August 7, 2003, was elected by the people of the 33rd Metropolitan Council District (with over 50% of the votes cast in a four-person race) to represent them on the Eleventh Metropolitan Council; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Bradley, during his tenure in office in the Metropolitan Council, served on the following Council Committees: Codes, Fair and Farmers Market; Parks-Library-Recreation-Auditorium; Audit; and Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Bradley, during his tenure in office in the Metropolitan Council, worked tirelessly with the community and the Metropolitan Planning Department developing proactive zoning and planning tools, including the Hamilton Hills UDO and the Rural Hill Road SP, to encourage a quality of life enriched by choices in housing and transportation, efficient use of public infrastructure, distinctive community character, and a robust civic life; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Bradley, during his tenure in office in the Metropolitan Council, conducted himself with dignity and honor in the discharge of his duties and provided exemplary leadership on many issues, especially through his graciousness under pressure to those with whom he might disagree, showing great sensitivity to a diversity of opinion; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Bradley, was obligated to resign his position as Representative of the 33rd District after being appointed Chief Administrative Officer for the Office of the Criminal Court Clerk of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and commends Tommy Bradley for his outstanding contributions to our community, and thanks him for his service to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, as Council Representative for the 33rd District for the Eleventh Metropolitan Council, and extends to him and to his family heartfelt thanks from each and every Member of the Metropolitan Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending Tommy Bradley for his outstanding public service to Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County, State of Tennessee.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk's Office is hereby directed to prepare a hand-lettered scroll to be presented to Tommy Bradley.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
