A resolution accepting a mutual aid agreement by and between the Metropolitan Government and the Department of the Air Force, 118th Airlift Wing, for the provision of emergency fire and hazardous material assistance.

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated §58-2-110 et seq., authorizes and encourages mutual aid agreements between municipalities and other local, state, and federal entities regarding the provision of emergency services; and,

WHEREAS, the Department of the Air Force, 118th Airlift Wing, has requested that The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County enter into a mutual aid agreement to further the protection of life and property within the jurisdiction of the 118th Airlift Wing; and,

WHEREAS, the Department of the Air Force is authorized to provide emergency aid to the citizens of the Metropolitan Government pursuant to federal law;

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department enter into the Mutual Aid agreement attached hereto.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Mutual Aid Agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Davidson County and the Department of the Air Force, 118th Airlift Wing for the provision of emergency fire and hazardous material assistance, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
