A resolution approving an amendment to a grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to sustain key homeland security programs.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County previously entered into a Grant Agreement with the United States Department of Homeland Security to sustain key homeland security programs in the amount of $3,536,966, which Grant Agreement was approved by Resolution RS2004-498; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend that Grant Agreement to extend the grant until September 30, 2006, during which time the remaining grant funds may be utilized, a copy of which Amendment is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this Amendment be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Amendment to the grant by and between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to sustain key homeland security programs, a copy of which Amendment is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
