A resolution recognizing and commending Michael Victor Kerstetter for his outstanding public service to Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, Michael Victor Kerstetter, was born in 1962 to William and Mary Kerstetter of Sevierville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kerstetter graduated from Hastings High School in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kerstetter earned a B.A. degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kerstetter is the proud parent of Courtney, Austin and Caleb Kerstetter; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kerstetter is an employee for the State of Tennessee, Department of Labor and Workforce Development; and

WHEREAS, on September 9, 1999, the good people of the 30th Metropolitan Council District elected Mr. Kerstetter to represent them in the 10th Metropolitan Council; and

WHEREAS, on August 7, 2003, the good people of the 30th Metropolitan Council District elected Mr. Kerstetter again to represent them in the 11th Metropolitan Council; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure in office, Mr. Kerstetter served on the Metropolitan Council's Education Committee; Personnel Committee; Public Safety and Traffic and Parking Committee; and

WHEREAS, from September 2003 through August 2004, Mr. Kerstetter served as the chairperson for the Personnel Committee of the Metropolitan Council; and

WHEREAS, from September 2001 through August 2002, Mr. Kerstetter served as the co-chairperson for the Education Committee of the Metropolitan Council; and

WHEREAS, on April 5th, 2006, Mr. Kerstetter, acting from the highest of motives, voluntarily resigned his seat in the Metropolitan Council to pursue a bid for a seat on the Metro Nashville Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure in office, Mr. Kerstetter comported himself with singular dignity and grace in the discharge of his duties and provided exemplary leadership on many issues, particularly with regard to issues of Education and the Safety of the children of Nashville; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Michael Victor Kerstetter, for his outstanding contributions to our community, thanks him for his service to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, as Councilman for the 23rd District, and extends to him and to his family the heartfelt felicitations of each and every Member of the Metropolitan Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending Michael Victor Kerstetter for his outstanding public service to Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council is hereby directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Michael Victor Kerstetter.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
